Kasen's grandmother happened to come across some delicious d'anjou pears, but they needed about a week of ripening. Apparently pears are generally picked before they are ripe because when they are too ripe on the tree the sugars crystallize within the pear that result in a cakey, grainy texture that's unpleasant. Anyway, the pears were ripe this weekend and ready to go!
The verdict? The pureed pears were sweet at first taste with a little hint of sourness on the back. But they were delicious. Kasen loved them. Definitely excited to start combining fruits and veggies for more complex texture and tastes.
