Adventures in Solids: Purple Sweet Potatoes!

Kasen really wasn't crazy about the steamed orange sweet potatoes that he tried as his very first food, but my mom was saying that (as an avid sweet potato eater haha) she herself doesn't like the orange fleshed variety either. but that she loves the purple variety and the yellow variety. And it just happened to be that my mom brought some over this past weekend to try, and my mother in law gave us two yellow sweet potatoes for Kasen to try. And to my delight...my mom was right. Kasen loved the purple sweet potatoes. I tried it myself - they were mild, nutty, creamy, and deliciously sweet. And I wonder if the fact that I roasted them in the oven had a big difference, and I'm thinking it did.

While I forgot to take a picture of the pureed purple sweet potatoes (and I'm upset I forgot, because the color was so deeply gorgeous and purple that it was memorable), we did manage to capture a video of Kasen enjoying them. He also just started really trying to have a conversation with us, so that's also another bonus =) The purple sweet potatoes were so deep in color that when we fed Kasen it looked like he had a mustache!

Update: The second time making the okinawan purple sweet potatoes I actually took pictures. Such a rich, deep purple color! Chock full of antioxidants and vitamins. Love it.
