the fabulous adventures of a full-time working mom raising a toddler in boston

ABOUT

Mammoth Mountain, California
I'm Celicia, a full-time working mom raising a toddler in Boston. I'm a goal digger striving to live life to its fullest and then some. I earned my undergraduate and master's degrees in Economics and International Economics and Finance, respectively at Brandeis University in an accelerated 5-year combined BA/MA program called the Lemberg Program. I studied abroad at la Escuela Superior de Administracion y Direccion de Empresas (ESADE) in Barcelona, Spain which was my second choice after I was told by my school's administration that I could not go to National University of Singapore because of the SARS epidemic. My first job though truly required me to go outside of my comfort zone when I accepted a position as a junior research analyst at Geneva, Switzerland-based fund of hedge funds opening a brand new research office in New York City. I've had the chance since then to live in the exciting and fast-paced New York City and the amazing and eclectic Barcelona and travel on a personal and work basis to places I've never even dreamed of, like Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and Roma, Italy, and Beijing, China before coming back to settle in Boston, where I grew up. Once a Boston girl, always a Boston girl. But of course with a global twist, because I truly feel that I am a citizen of the world. I love Boston, but my heart and home is wherever my family is.

When not working as a hedge fund analyst (and I love my career - if you don't, I encourage you to go find your passion), I'm spending time with my fam bam. I love my family. I love all four seasons so being born and bred in Boston means that I appreciate the sun and snow alike, but my favorite season is autumn - for its deep reds and oranges and browns, sweaters, pumpkins, boots and apple cider donuts. I love shopping and finding deals. I love fashion. I am obsessed with personal and home style. I love to travel (the only continents I haven't been on is Africa and Australia - I need to go!) and enjoy new experiences. I appreciate food - I will try everything at least once! While I admit that I'm not a creative person I do appreciate thoughtful design. I love to read - as a kid I'd sneak reading books with my flashlight under the covers until the wee hours, and take out stacks of books weekly from the library. That's probably why I am so myopic. It is therefore not a surprise that I love Harry Potter (the books first, the movies second). I also love all things sci-fi - I sometimes think I was born in the wrong century. The glass is always half full. According to Myers-Briggs' personality test I'm an ENFJ, which I'm a big believer in because it fits me to a tee! Before I became a full-time mom I was an avid snowboarder alongside my now husband, where we used to travel the globe to chase snow. Our happy place is still Whistler :) Because I've grown up writing extensively throughout my life, and now do it as a component of my career (which doesn't feel like one because I love it so much), I enjoy doing it. When I had Kasen I decided to keep a personal diary of our adventures together, so I'd never forget and I'd always have a lasting and digital footprint of the memories we make, every step of the way. Let's face it, our littles don't stay little for long!

These are my fabulous adventures as a full-time working mom, raising a toddler in historic Boston.
