Operation Project STTN: Day 4 + Day 5

Day 4 and Day 5 fell on a weekend (Friday and Saturday), and unfortunately they were odd days where we didn't get to exercise our usual bedtime routine. Instead, it involved Kasen falling asleep in the car because we were en route home from our destinations. On Friday night because of my massive craving for sushi that I had been having for two weeks, we decided to go to Sushiman to visit Lucy and Toyama and Ami. Kasen loved them right away, and let both Ami and Lucy hold him! When we got home he fell asleep in his car seat, and so we lifted him out and laid him to sleep. He awoke in the middle of the night again, and it took about an hour of him fussing before he was able to put himself to sleep again. :( It was painful. I wanted to feed him but my husband said my feeding only reinforces him getting up. I knew he was right. I had to be strong.

The next night was a family wedding. My second cousin Angie and her fiance Brian were getting married at the Ritz. Our entire family piled into my parents' minivan and we all attended the beautiful wedding together. Kasen was pretty good, but I think got overstimulated, got fussy, and then got to a point where he was so overtired that he was in a good mood towards the end when we were about to leave! Furthermore....the fact that it was daylight savings that next early morning really threw things into a loop. Needless to say once we put Kasen in his carseat, and the car barely left the curb of the Ritz that he fell fast asleep. He awoke around 3:30am, and because he didn't have his meal before he went to sleep I made it a point to feed him. Interestingly he was no longer comfortable falling asleep with me, which made me realize he was probably more comfy falling asleep in his crib. So I put him in his crib, and he proceeded to fuss for 20 minutes. Then silence! He went to sleep. So not only are we sleep training him, but we are cold turkey weaning him from night feedings. If I were him I'd be so pissed at me right now. And to be honest he is actually dealing with it all quite well despite the sudden shocker.

Tonight will be Day 6 - I hope we continue to make further progress. I would love it if he fussed for fewer minutes before passing out for the night, but hey, I can't have everything.
