Marc by Marc Jacobs Eliz-A-Baby Diaper Bag

I initially had purchased the LeSportsac Ryan Baby Bag in the quilted black, and blogged about it here: http://hellobabyzhao.blogspot.com/2012/09/whats-in-your-diaper-bag.html

I used it often for Kasen's first 7 months and got tons of mileage out of it. Our 6-year old shih tzu even peed on it and it went through the wash, and cleaned and dried beautifully. At some point however, it simply just wasn't enough space for all of his stuff and all of my stuff! I needed more space, I needed more pockets. Initially I thought I was just carrying too much, but I realized that as he grew older the contents of the bag did begin to change (aside from the usual diaper changing pad and bottles and extra diapers, the addition of puffs and snacks and sippy cups and bulkier toys and changes of clothes and all kinds of lovely things), and instead of carrying my bag, I would minimize what I needed to carry by just bringing my wallet, phone, keys, and a little makeup bag if needed. I faced the music: mommy and baby needed a bigger diaper bag.

I had been eyeing the Marc by Marc Jacobs Eliz-a-Baby in Pretty Nylon diaper bag for while, and would pet it whenever I saw it in the department stores, but could never muster up the courage to buy it. Until shopbop had a promotion where they were giving $X off depending on how much you purchased. I was sold!

It's better constructed than the LeSportsac Ryan Diaper Bag. It's sturdier, thicker, yet still light. And tote straps and the long strap are both awesome. My issue with the Ryan Diaper bag tote straps are that they are too short to really put it over your shoulder. the MbMJ is longer and perfect. The long strap is also wider and sturdier - it's more comfortable to sling across as a cross body.

And it holds more. There are endless pockets. Pockets on the outside, pockets on the inside. And because the lining is the classic MbMJ lining, you can find things much more easily compared to the Ryan Diaper bag (it's all black - making it harder to find items).

I can fit our Skip Hop for Giggle diaper changing caddy, Skip Hop for Giggle bottle holder (yes, I am a sucker for all things bright and happy), extra diapers, a change of clothes and extra bibs, toys, snacks, a bag of all kinds of emergency knick knacks (neosporin, extra pair of scissors, first aid kid, etc.) an extra bottle in the outside pocket, a sippy cup on the other outside pocket, johnson & johnson baby wipes, boogie wipes, j&j baby cream (it's better than the lotion and works wonders for rosacea!), and aquaphor in the pockets. And of course my wallet, phone, keys, and makeup bag to boot. And there is still room for more. Amazing.

So if you're deciding. Run, don't walk for this bag, especially if you can find it on sale (I think I spied a sale on piperlime recently for the bags!)
