Diaper Rash Stinks

 VS.
our little pooping machine was easily going through 10 or more diapers a day due to his multiple wet diapers and poops. despite us changing his diaper often we noticed he was starting to get a diaper rash, which began to make my husband (i call him Chief Diaper Changing Officer, or CDCO) and myself extremely anxious. we were putting on the rapid relief desitin but it simply wasn't working effectively.

fast forward a week later one of my best friends from new york city, nancy came to visit with her husband (we affectionately call him onion even though his name is anthony) and her super cute daughter taylor. nancy's in the medical field so she knew all of the tricks of the trade. she said baby taylor NEVER got diaper rash because of the trusty combination of vaseline + desitin. so we tried vaseline + desitin - while better, it wasn't quite getting rid of it fast enough.

until i realized that we were using the rapid relief desitin which had 13% zinc oxide...and that maximum strength desitin, which we also had, had 40% zinc oxide, or more than 3X the agents needed to heal - and also keep - diaper rash at bay. we immediately switched, adhering to the original vaseline base with max strength desitin on top, and voila! no more diaper rash!

also as a side note being a first time parent and learning everything for the first time, especially on the products from - you quickly learn which products one likes better because you simply don't have time to waste. i am in love with the pampers sensitive wipes. we bought the huggies natural aloe thick wipes from costco and they don't compare - not as smooth, and not as durable. we'll be switching back once we get through all of the huggies wipes!
