Chatty Little Fella

Kasen is doing great - he's 20 months now, understands both English and Cantonese equally, but has conversations and speaks mostly in Cantonese. He's very curious and wants to know everything, likes to talk about animals, make animal sounds, enjoys nai nai (milk) and tell me that once he finishes "nai nai mo" (no more milk), that there are ngai ngai (ants) and will say "ngai ngai yau" or "jeck joi yau", or "moh" for there aren't any... or will ask us to put on "bubbo" (bubble guppies show) or "elmo coco" (sesame street - he calls cookie monster coco). Really loves his "pei pei" (and asks for it all of the time). And he also really loves his "pop pop" (these homemade fruit popsicles). Favorite animals are fufu (tiger), mah mah (horse), jerng jerng (elephant), rhino (can't say R so says i-no), guay guay (turtle), and hippo. Ducks (ahp ahp) used to be his favorite. Loves to eat Ken's pork ribs - he calls them gai gai (chicken), soup (soup soup), sweet potatoes (he calls them see-see for fahn see) and gua gua (chinese winter melon). Asks for sui sui (water) and juice (anything that is not water). Likes yogurt (when he says it it sounds like "ogre"). Asks for gong gong, por por, and yeh yeh all of the time. And there is one pair of shoes that he asks to wear all of the time. Doesn't like any other pairs! He can count 1-4 in Cantonese. And he is learning letters and enjoys identifying them and saying them - favorite letters are A, X, T, C, F, Y and K. Certain songs come on and he will start to dance. Pretty funny. We have a small kitchen for him too and he loves to make "mum mum" for us and enjoys pretending to feed us.

Having so much fun with him these days. He's very eager to learn and likes to drag books over to you so he can sit in your lap and listen to stories or be tested on animals or letters.
