First Few Steps
Kasen in the last few weeks - well, really in the last month - has really developed his balancing skills significantly. He crawls, cruises, stands (solidly for maybe 10 seconds at a time), slowly sits back down when he wants to come down from cruising, easily transitions from crawling to sitting, loves to climb, etc. So yesterday evening in his crib he actually let go of the railings for a few seconds....and walked very slowly, gauging his balance, from one side of the short side of the crib to the other. once he realized what he did...he squealed with joy! Actually, after that he was on a tear - his neurons must have been firing like crazy after that because he moved nonstop after we let him crawl around the master bedroom. We thought we'd let Kasen have a hand at taking a few steps just to see where he was...especially since he was able to garner some balance atop his bouncy (and not so stable) mattress. Lo and behold...he took 3 or 4 solid steps, carefully gauging his balance, without stumbling. This I think the beginning of my little Kasen getting ready to become a full fledged toddler. Sigh. So bittersweet! Hard to believe that he's growing up so fast.
