Chinese Traditions - 10 Days Before First Birthday
Apparently, 10 days before a baby's first birthday he is required to "bai sun" - burn incense, make food, money, and drink offerings to ancestors. My inlaws - Kasen's yeh yeh (paternal grandfather) and mah mah (paternal grandmother) administered this special ritual. Here is Kasen accepting his red envelopes and candy:
