Transitioning to Sippy Cups and Straws

Kasen learned to drink from a straw in less than 30 seconds - I didn't even have any expectations. This past Saturday night I just presented him with the cup, made some sucking sounds, and BOOM - he starts sucking from the straw. I'm relieved - he knows how to drink from a cup, a sippy cup, and now a straw. At least I don't have to worry about weaning him off the bottle when he's a year old. I hear it's better to start teaching them early while you can! He's totally loving it now - he happily drinks his water through the straw in the oxo tot straw cup we got him. He almost drinks TOO much water, but I can't help but just giggle watching him suck away.

And also taught him to use the Tilty Cup Sippy Cups, which were also amazing but sooo hard to find:

As for food, in addition to more recently having a penchant for biting banana from well, the banana and biting into pear because he feels like a big boy, he for some odd reason really loves fish porridge (or rather, "ngui jook" in toisanese). I'm not sure if it's the creamy texture of the porridge or the taste and texture of fish. We've been using the salmon from faroe island (it is so fatty, unctuous and delicious in every way) and buffalo head fish, which has a natural sweetness. the end result is something that makes mommy and baby happy - kasen's belly and taste buds are satisfied and mommy loves the fact that he is getting protein, carbs, and the biggest bonus ever - DHA and OMEGA-3's. I admit that I am one of those highly obsessive moms that just wants the best for their child. What mom doesn't, right? I think I take it to the extreme. I need to know that the food he eats is wholesome and pure and just perfect for his little growing noggin and body.
I also cannot describe how I feel when my little man calls out for his mama. I would do just about anything for him. Ugh. Kid has momma wrapped around his finger.

I honestly have never come across such a happy, giggly and loving baby. He smiles and talks nonstop. Kasen is simply awesome. We are so lucky.
